Hairstyles Over The Decades Hairstyles change over time just as women’s minds are constantly having new ideas adding to the fashion ideas of that specific period. The 60s to now have distinctive styles that represent each time era. Are the hairstyles in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s still ones that show up in current day hairstyles? 1960s brought several popular hair ideas into the world. Like most fashion trends, celebrities and movie stars also influenced hairstyles in the 60s. Hair was just big. According to an article online, “Women’s 1960s Hairstyles,” “Wigs were something that was known and normal for women to slip on and off easily.” The hairpieces were made with real hair that added volume to their hair to fit the look of this time. …show more content…
The banana clip was used by many women to pull hair back. Madonna set the 80s fashions from hair to music, every girl would copy the things she would do. According to Ola, online article posted in Hairstyles called, “1980s hairstyles for women,” Hairstyles were influence by trends such as power suits, primetime dramas, and musical culture. The high side ponytail or fountain as some would call it was typical. Women pulled their hair back and held it with a bright, fun colored, scrunchie or headband. “Wave, bobs and more altitude than we’ve seen in a while are all reminiscent of the days of big hair.”(Denning). Hair coloring during this time was not done by natural colors, but done with bright colors such as pink, blue, purple. The bright colors added a pop to this time. Bangs were a continued fashion trend. The hairstyles during this time look messy to most, but are considered the frizzy look. Crimping iron was just like a curly iron, but gave the certain look that was popular during this time. Crimping looked like zig zags in a women’s hair.
