I love doing hair so when I was trying to figure out what to pick I finally picked hair. Hair is a very broad category. There’s coloring, cutting, styling and more. I mainly focused on coloring and different way to style hair. Coloring your hair or someone else's can be a challenge and frustrating if you mess up or it doesn’t turn out how you thought it would. But it’s also really fun and exciting. I’ve never actually colored my own hair before. Unless you count attempting to remove the black from it last summer by bleaching and using color remover on it. Needless to say that didn’t turn out too well. Well the first thing I did was rewatch YouTube videos on how to dye hair to refresh my memory. Then I convinced my brother to let me dye his hair. He chose black, which is an interesting color to use when you’re dying someone else’s hair for the first time. It went very smoothly, probably since I watched so many videos and watched people dye my hair many, many times. He was very happy on how his hair turned out. There was leftover black dye and I had some purple left over from last year. So, instead of just waiting till I got the dye I actually want I decided it was time to do something to my hair. I didn’t want to dye my whole head because there’s a different color …show more content…
A french fishtail is probably my favorite to do right now. It’s also frustrating when it’s going well then you mess up and have to start over or try to go back and fix it. For some reason it’s easier to do a french fishtail than two french braids. I watched some videos and looked up quite a few tutorials on how to do different styles. I came up with some of my own and twists on other ones too. When I finally got the fishtail right I was so excited. Styling guys’ hair proved to be more difficult, I could straighten it and braid it when it was long enough but I don’t work well with gel. The french fishtail is still by far my favorite hair style besides just

Insecurity Growing up on a farm with two older brothers, I was a bit of a tomboy. From birth until age seven, my favorite toys were Tonka trucks and wooden guns. I wrestled in the mud, ate like a teenage boy, and at the age of five took scissors to my hair, chopping it into a pixie cut, so I could “be like my older brothers”. Innocently, I wore my barn clothes to school and my kindergarten picture displays my hair in a rats nest, with a large crooked smile, and bright eyes. However, that yearbook picture changed as my innocence faded away.…

There is nothing like going into a salon, and coming out feeling like a completely different person. Personally, it was something I found therapeutic. As the storms of misfortune found there way to me, and blew me off course, I could always anchor myself and take control by changing something about myself. Whether that be a new hair color, cut, or a beautiful set of acrylic nails. I want to be the person someone comes to, and trusts to make them feel good about themselves.…

    I. Home as refuge/protection In Ode to my Mother’s Hair by Joseph Legaspi and The Road Back by Pak Chesam, home is expressed as a matter of refuge and protection. The two poems are similar in the fact that “home” is defined as a symbolic figure, which is the mother. For example, in the poem Ode to my Mother’s Hair, the comparison of the mother’s hair as “dark as cuttlefish ink,” (Legaspi 9) signifies a mother’s natural instinct when danger is sensed. This analogy provides a vivid imagery on a mother’s character in that they would defend and protect, like a cuttlefish secreting ink, when danger lurks.…
