Hades was the Greek god of the underworld and the dead. He was one of the oldest and most powerful gods, being first born male of Cronus and Rhea. He was very complicated and would rarely ever show himself, but when he did it could be very interesting.
Hades was the fourth child of Cronus and Rhea and was swallowed by his father, Cronus, as all the others before him had. This happened because it was prophesied Cronus would be overthrown by his children just as he did father, Uranus. This is where he would spend many of his first years, until Zeus would maturity and return to save them. After Zeus tricked Cronus into drinking a potion, he regurgitated Hades and his other siblings. Hades would then help to defeat the titans and gain control of the universe. This war, called the Titanomachy, would last ten years and require some assistance. To help them they released the Cyclopes, and for his help Hades was given a helm. This helm would give the wearer invisibility and allowed Hades to bring the war to an end by sneaking into the titan camp and destroying their supplies (Greek Legends and Myths). After

The underworld was not just a place for evil people, but all mortals after they died. It consisted of many different parts, some being heavenly and peaceful like the Elysian Fields, some were just full of nothingness like Asphodel Meadows, and others were dreadful and terrible like Tartarus (Greek Legends and Myths). Hades himself was also not necessarily evil. He was usually shown as a very unyielding and unforgiving person, not being swayed by prayer and sacrifice (Greek Gods & Goddesses). He was also he was often depicted as a greedy god, taking almost whatever we wanted with no opposition, because people were scared of him.
