HRC Shortcomings

Decent Essays
Despite HRC shortcomings and downfalls, during the most important campaign run of her life, she is forced to go up against a white man that is racist, misogynistic, a bigot, privileged to infinity, sexist, a prude and more. She is on a platform where her opponent can do all of these things blatantly, and his supporters still does not bat an eye. She still has to fight and fight HARD, because she is a woman. Why is this race still "so close"? I hear people at my job talk about women not being in the top positions here, but in the same line say they don't want HRC as the president because of how other nations may not respect women (but want men and women to have equal pay and same opportunities). What? But you're a woman...and you don't support...nevermind.

" We clearly understand that DeVos does not see education as a public good but as a private profit,…

Nonwhite women went from suffering in a society based on intentional racism and sexism in the Reconstruction Era to suffering in a society that is ignorantly racist and sexist in the Noughties Era as a reaction from the Civil Rights Act. According to Mark Huelsman, who wrote the article, “Clinton vs. Trump: How your vote will impact your student debt” from Complex, illustrates Trump’s behavior in a summary of his presidential campaign. He states, “once he (Trump) called women “disgusting” for breastfeeding, kicked a crying baby out of his rally, and said that men who take care of their children are acting “like the wife” (4). As seen above, is an example of how the United States still has a gap of gender roles. Before continuing, gender is culture and sex are biological. Therefore, in terms of gender roles, the United States culture tends to still have the traditional perspective of women’s roles within the nation, although with time has evolved.…

In their study, they found that in both 2001 and 2011, there was a “profound gender gap in interest in seeking elective office. Women of all professions, political parties, ages, and income levels are less likely than their male counterparts to express interest in running for office” (16). Why is that when women perform the same task as men, they do work just as fine as men? Figure 5a lists some obstacles women face, such as being held to a higher standard than men or that women are not tough enough to handle politics (“Obstacles to Female Leadership”). In order to close the gender gap and increase women’s representation in politics society must continue to raise awareness about the…

I believe majority of society do not really recognize the meaning of white privilege, meanwhile; we are more to busy tweeting out on society media before understanding. A lot of them want to disagree it since they think that all it means is that they didn’t work hard for what they earn and everything they have was given due to the color of their skin. All it means is they are the dominate racial group in America, they are represented in the media better than other racial groups. Hence, they are not discriminated against in institutions since they have majority of controls. Moreover, their look is the standard of beauty while women from ethnic groups are made to believe they are ugly in the United States because they lack European features.…

In history, women have always struggled to gain equality, respect, and the same rights as men. Women had to endure years of sexism and struggle to get to where we are today. The struggle was even more difficult for women of color because not only were we dealing with issues of sexism, but also racism. Many movements have helped us black women during the past centuries to overcome sexism, racism, and adversities that were set against us. Some of the most significant changes in our country were happening in the central 1800’s--- the Civil War era. The fact that Donald trump not only made it through the primaries but was elected to be president just really shows how racists this country still. I was watching SNL and Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock were in a sketch about election night and trumps victory and it really made me think. The white people in the sketch were so convinced that Hilary had it in the bag, but Chris and Dave knew what was going to happen because they understood that America is a racist country so racist people are going to elect the someone like Trump over anyone else. This sketch was a perfect example of how white people in this country are completely blinded by their privilege they see racists things almost every day, but because it doesn’t affect them it’s almost as if it doesn’t happen.…

The wage gap in America is still a problem that affects thousands of women and most importantly women of color, today. Many women have been a victim of the wage gap between men and women and many think it’s not fair and we should all be equal. A wage gap is when an individual gets paid more or less than another person for the equal amount of labor. Other countries around the world are already beyond this point and have equal pay between women and men. Countries like Italy, Norway, Slovenia, and France are already ahead of us even though we are considered a “modern” country.…

“Equality Implies Individuality” People who are in high positions of power and privileges should make a positive influence to the community rather than using it for their own convenience. In this world, it really cannot be avoided that there are inequalities everywhere. There will always be someone who is weak and powerless, and in contrast, someone who is influential and dominate. But sometimes, some of those people who are high in power tend to have more benefits, like getting special treatments and getting exempted from obeying the laws. These people are referred to as sacred cows, and as what Cambridge dictionary stated, “something or someone that people accept or believe to be good or necessary without ever questioning their belief.”…
