HIV is the virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). You can become infected with HIV through the exchange of blood, semen and vaginal secretions with a person infected with the virus, for example by having sex or sharing needles to inject person. Pregnant women infected with HIV can also pass the virus to their babies during birth or through breast milk. HIV attacks the immune system so the body can not fight germs and diseases. A person infected with the virus in the body leads to the rest of his life.
