INTRODUCTION Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have been and are critical drivers of social mobility and social change in the Black community. This letter is to express my interest in the position as a Residential Assistant for The New School. I also sent my resume showing my experience, competence and reliability as a team member. This position caught my eye as soon as I stepped foot on campus, my parents and I were introduced to Ms. Marsha Dawson at a mixer and through her I gained an awareness of the possibilities of becoming an RA. I then did my own research and came away with the sense of pride that if given the opportunity, I would embrace the resident assistant (RA) position is truly a special one.
