After reading about the HMIS program and its purpose, I came up with my own list of concerns that I had about HMIS. Then, I took these concerns and tried to best match them with the questions from Marx New Surveillance. I reviewed the questions and decided that based on my concerns with the program these were the best questions that would lead to finding out the ethics of HMIS.…
The assignment for unit four has asked that I write a paper outlining some of the key highlights and notable points about the profession that I have chosen to pursue. The more I study and review the career field of a Healthcare Administration, the more excited I get about the possibilities that potentially await me. There are many different types of work that a person could get into with this particular field, but I am going to focus mainly on the Healthcare Administrator field as it pertains to a hospital or clinic. When a person chooses the vocation of Healthcare Administrator they have basically accepted a lifestyle that will for a time require a tremendous amount of time and effort in order to be successful. This person will spend long hours in the office completing all types of paperwork for regulatory items and then after they leave the office, go to a community function and promote their organization.…
For every nursing home in America, an experienced, well-endowed & capable health care administrator to ensure quality care is provided is at the helm of all facility operations. Although, all licensed health care administrators are not equivalent. Whether it is leadership attributes, emotional qualities or personal characteristics when you break it down these areas set substantial healthcare administrators apart. Initiative sense of others feelings and perspectives, as well as the ability to show interest in patients is the emotional intelligence trait; which is just one of three traits that set great administrators apart. They require an ability to encounter, experience and also meet staff and tenants requisites.…

Healthcare administration graduates have many possible choices for what healthcare setting to pursue a career, including hospitals and large medical complex facilities such as medical supply, pharmaceutical companies, clinics, health insurance businesses, government agencies, research facilities, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes. I would utilize this service again because it was an informative workshop. I learned a lot from the speakers and I would attend if there is another one in the future. One of the service I think should be offered to UCF students is a mentorship program. I believe that it should be mandatory for every student to find a mentor in their field of study before graduation.…
History tells a story about a time that the hospital, LTC system and mental health were all connected to one another and were all serviced in the same manner. Well, maybe there wasn’t really a hospital, nursing home or asylum so to speak of but there were people who had conditions or were poor and could not take care of themselves which resulted in a need which brought life to the health care facilities and models of care that we recognize today. Early in American history, few people lived to be old, but for those who did, “old-age security” meant having children or property. The public welfare system of those times was fashioned after the English “poor Laws”. Early on, paupers were given cash payments referred to as “outdoor relief”.…
I think its a great idea and unfortunately many professionals forget to question their practice for advancement, especially when they have been in their job for a longer period of time. I notice many in the beginning don't look to rock the boat and then later in their careers many get relaxed and forget new changes in advancement could greatly hinder their practice by not being more open. I personally am going into Healthcare administration and would prefer to work within the Geriatrics area. I notice the lack of advanced education and training is one of the largest issues you will find in these areas of healthcare. It's unfortunate because the main drive in society has become preventive care…
Florence Nightingale, born 1820, placed a major influence on creating nursing as a career not just the responsibility of the female guardians (McDonald, 2013). Before the age of Nightingale, nursing was derived from popular culture, however, as the year’s progressed nursing slowly transformed into a career choice (Daly, Speedy & Jackson, 2015). At the age of 20 she began her nursing career, for many years she traveled the world, spending time in hospitals and healthcare setting, allowing her to know to help treat patients across the world. During 1857, Nightingale began her journey into establishing training schools for others that had a similar passion within nursing and caring for others (McDonald, 2013). Opening that first school for nursing has created a major impact on the healthcare setting today.…

(Carron Casillas, RN, NS, March,24,2016) I asked what are some opportunities with this career in which two stated “You work with people, and sometimes get to see them improve”. (Amber web, NS, March,23,2016), (Carron Casillas, RN, NS, March,24,2016). I like the fact that this is “a large field” (Carron Casillas, RN, NS, Personal Interview, March,24,2016), If I get bored with one thing can move onto another.…
Healthcare Trends. In the 1980’s there was a shift toward privatization of health care as corporations began not only to integrate the hospital system, but also entered many other health-care related businesses and consolidate control (Evashwick, 2005). In 1981, the first assisted living opened in Portland, Oregon as an alternative living options for older adults who were unhappy with nursing homes. It provided a type of elderly care that offered a level of attention and independence less than a nursing homes, but more than an independent living situation. The rapid growth of this industry over the next twenty years was due to the changing attitudes of consumers who viewed the institutionalized style of nursing homes and rumors of mistreatment and neglect as no longer acceptable for most aging seniors and their families.…

Content It is not uncommon to find out that most aging seniors with medical problems prefer to remain living at home. However, sometimes this is not the best decision for them. That is when in home care Denver aides can come in to work in the home. The caregivers provide assistance for those who need ongoing monitoring and cannot receive it from their family members.…
My interest in healthcare began in 1994 when began a two-year certificate program in Health Information Management at Central Texas College. The education that I received provided me an introduction into health service delivery and gave me an opportunity to work for a small psychiatric practice as a transcriptionist. In this position I developed entry level skills while covering the front desk and transcribing dictated reports. I only remained in this position for a brief period and worked outside of healthcare, as jobs were scarce.…
