The first podcast I listened to is the infamous “Welcome to Nightvale”, a series of podcast based on a fictional town located in America. Each episode begins with a short description of the town, a greeting from the host, and signature tune. The pilot episode starts off by setting the mood and tone for the podcast. The host talks in a deep and slow voice, almost as if he is reading a utopian novel. The mood is established as he describes the town bits by bits. A dog park where neither dogs nor humans can enter because of black hooded figures. A sky with helicopters that belongs to the government, the police, and an unknown force. This podcast focuses on those who make a living off YouTube, in a technical term, the YouTubers. Each episode starts off with a short tune, followed by the hosts introducing the guest speaker of the episode. Since this podcast is made in an interview-like style, listeners will get to the feeling of listening to a conversation between two people. Every episode is mainly made up of the hosts and guest talking about their life outside of YouTube. The questions and topics that were brought up in an episode will always be different from the last due to the fact that each YouTuber makes their own unique content. The overall tone of this podcast is very light and friendly. However, it is not suitable for younger children as it does come with the occasional swears. In order to fully understand and enjoy this type of podcast, I believe that listeners must be familiar with the featured YouTuber.
