Gymnastics Persuasive Essay

From the ages five to fifteen I competed in gymnastics. It became a huge part of my life and I enjoyed it very much. Then freshmen year came along and I started wanting to spend more time with my friends than at practice. Also, more importantly, I had to devote more time to my homework and studying than before high school had started. While I still liked gymnastics, I came to resent the demanding schedule and even some skills and events. I realized that I had to make a huge decision. Should I continue to compete in gymnastics, or should I quit in order to spend more time with my friends and doing homework? It was a really tough choice to make considering I had been doing gymnastics for most of my life. I resolved to make my decision by examining the pros and cons of quitting. I knew that if I quit I would miss gymnastics and my friends greatly, I wouldn’t be as fit, and I would disappoint my parents and teammates. I also knew that I would be able to hang out with my friends, I would get better grades, and I wouldn’t have to do skills and events that I didn’t want to …show more content…
When I examined the pros and cons of quitting it showed how I base my thinking and decisions on logic and reason. I logically listed the reasons instead of acting off a gut feeling like a romantic would. Another reason I’m a rationalist is because I chose school over gymnastics due to it’s progressive setting. Rationalist prefer to be somewhere they can advance, or progress. I saw that attending school and doing my homework would get me farther in life than gymnastics ever would. The last reason I identify as a rationalist is because I think about my future. When I decided to quit gymnastics I was considering how spending more time focused on school work would benefit my future. I realized that doing good in school would lead to a good college, which would then lead to a propitious career and a sucessful
