My heart was racing; I could feel the blood pumping through my veins. The nerves washed over me like a wave crashing against the shore. I stood still it was as if everything was in fast forward. I couldn’t do anything but think. Watching my best friend Payson her breathing was at a rapid pace. “How could I have done such a cruel thing?” I asked myself HOW? Payson’s high-pitched screams echoed through the gym. Almost shattering everyone’s eardrums they were screams of excruciating pain. Still not believe what I actually did I kept question myself. “What had overcome me?” As the ambulance took her away my heart dropped down into what felt like an empty pit of darkness. It was still dark moving my hand around on the table to find it was a struggle. I turned it on the bright light burned like looking at the sun. Straining to see as my eyes slowly adjusted to the light I read a message I had received from Payson. “Can’t believe we are competing together I can’t wait”. How could she be happy about this? The thought crossed my mind. What if I don’t win? Call me obsessed I don’t care! This has been my dream since I started gymnastics. I really would do everything and anything to be able to make it to worlds. That’s why I spend nearly 24/7 in the gym because I’m determined to succussed. We moved on to floor which was my best event. I was up first this time I walked into the middle of the floor thoughts filled my head. My music cued pulling me out of my deep my movements were clean and my dance was allegiant and to the beat. I finished it off with a dramatic ending. As I finished everyone was cheering and clapping. Payson began her routine with simple dance moves and powerful skills but I have always been the better one when it comes to floor. The judges flashed the scores for floor in my amazement Payson got a higher score again. I sneered at Payson. I closed my eyes as I did the image of Payson winner the competition popped into my head. I quickly opened them Payson was standing in front of me. The anger swirled through my body making my blood boil. My hands curling into fist just thinking of Payson winning.
