The population is about 720,000. Much of the Indian population came over as indentured labor from India to replace the
Africans in plantation work. The African descents left the plantation after their emancipation in

Most of the buildings in Guyana are built mainly of wood, with large ceilings. This comes from when Great Britain came and took over Guyana. Now that they are getting established as a country of their own they are starting to build more buildings out of other materials. The most populated cities in Guyana are the city of New Amsterdam, and the capitol city of Georgetown. Guyana is a small country with just over 760,000 people total. The main language in Guyana is English. Guyana is the only English-speaking country in South America. This is because Great Britain established them in the early 1800’s for the slave trade. Today Guyana and Venezuela are in a heated battle over the land that Great Britain took from them to create Guyana. They have been fighting for the better part of 30 years now with nether of them giving an inch ether way for the other. This will continue until Guyana is big enough to over through Venezuela and is recognized as a full country. This has been a bloody battle for a long time with no signs of slowing down any. As Guyana is not going to give up any of its farm land back to Venezuela. Guyana uses that land to farm and produce rice to sell to other countries to make a living and to get what they need to
