What is the theme of the work?
“The tree of life” is an important symbol used by many theologies, philosophies and mythologies (gustav-klimt.com, 2011). The swirling branches of the tree spin, twirl and turn; representing the several issues and challenges people go through in their life. The fact that some branches are going towards the sky and the trees roots expand to the area beneath the Earth surface represents the relationship between earth and heaven.
Another theme in this work is considered to be feminism and masculine. The feminism represented in the painting is expressed through the two abstract paintings on the left and right and symbolizes care, sustenance and growth. On the other hand, the masculine theme represents that life is born.
How has the work been made? Painted, woven, printed, drawn, cast, stitched, assembled, collage, etc.
