Chicago is known to be one of the most violent cities to reside in in America. We need help, and we want a dramatic action. Violence is out of control, in some areas of Chicago, and it is happening every day. Gun violence is a very serious problem because no one is safe not even our children. Parents worried about their children safety when they send them to school, hoping they do not become another firearm victim. Chicago residents have placed metal bars in their windows and doors because they do not feel safe. People are always watching over their shoulder just in case danger might come. What can be done to have some type of social order in the windy city? Guns should be ban in Chicago because it has and continues to claim countless lives.

According to journalist Aamer Madhani, the crime statistics released by the Chicago Police Department on April 2, 2015 recorded 355 shootings from January to April (Madhani). Whit this statistics in mind, Chicagoans and community leaders should work together to try to prevent future fatalities and lower the death rates. In addition, senseless deaths occur throughout the year as result of gun violence. Violence is out control, people; particularly teenagers, are killing other teens because the situation gets out of control. Teens do not know how to properly handle conflict nor confrontation due to their lack of rational which can become a deadly situation when a solution is not found. Autry, character from the book Gang Leader for a Day, explains the senseless reasons why teenagers kill. He said, ““They kill, sometimes for the most stupid reasons,” You spoke to my girlfriend…’’you walked down the sidewalk in my territory…’’you looked at me funny---That’s it, I ‘ll kill you!”” (pg. 97) Unfortunately, sometimes innocent people get caught in the middle of a confrontation, which can lead to an injury or even a fatality. The article titled, Baby Dies After Woodlawn Shooting; “Senseless, Despicable Act” states that in 2013 gun violence claimed the life of Jonylah Walkins, an infant, who was shot multiple times, while the father changed her diaper in a motor vehicle .
