Guns Should Be Allowed In Schools

The concrete permanence of guns when in the wrong hands is something that should not be taken lightly; nor should be a situation that involves children, being around firearms. Children are the foundation of our future society, to ensure that every child gets quality education is extremely high on the list of importance in education, a child’s safety and well being comes far before any academic achievement. Ensuring that the learning place is a safe haven for cognitive progression and development is essential to the learning process. To allow guns into this safe haven for progression within young children is an absolutely absurd concept to even being to attempt to wrap my head around. Unfortunately in Arizona private schools they are able to have guns on campus with proper regulations in place.
State and federal laws don't prevent someone with an Arizona concealed-carry permit from carrying a concealed gun on private school grounds, according to a recent opinion released by the Arizona Attorney General's Office (Brnovich, 2016). Mark Brnovich also claimed that the law does not deny the ability for private schools to have secured guns on campus to be used in case of an emergency by properly trained individuals. This news article grabbed my attention quickly due to my distaste for concealed

The Federal Gun Free School Zones Act was created to ensure that all students would be safe while they are gaining their education, and to over step the boundaries in place of the federal law by getting through small loop holes is absolutely absurd. The second amendment states that every citizen has the right to bare arms, the fact that educators in private schooling are not against bring weapons on to school grounds is terrifying for the

I too think that having a gun on school grounds is a serious crime. In the case of United Sates v. Lopez it should have only been up to the state to punish him, but that wasn't the case. Lopez's crime should not have been punishable under the Commerce Crime and that was exactly what the ruling upheld. The Commerce Crime had nothing to do with the Gun Free School Zone Act and therefore it was unconstitutional. Great discussion.…

Ever since the Sandy Hook shooting in late 2012, it has become glaringly apparent an alarming amount of the United States’ populace and lawmakers would sooner sacrifice the lives of children than ever dare consider the idea of constricting some of the freedom a gun carries. It might be a tad bit of an overgeneralization, and obviously very few would ever admit to believing they fall into that category, but the history of gun violence in the US shows the lack of attempts and resistance to improved weapon laws speaks louder than their words. Following the aforementioned shooting at Sandy Hook in 2012, there has been roughly 63 school shootings, give or take, ranging from only one being injured to over a dozen being murdered. After all these…

If teachers have access to the weapons, an intruder could also gain access only increasing the potential for violence. Concealed handguns in the schools would be kept in a secure area and teachers and administrators would have strict procedures in carrying the gun on school grounds. There would be more responsibility for the teachers and administrators, but in order to protect students teachers would welcome new regulations. The battle continues in state legislatures across the country.…

Proposals offered by the gun lobby to repeal the federal Gun-Free School Zones Act and arm teachers as a solution to curb those rare instances of gun violence at school. Teachers are not trained law enforcement officers – their purpose is to be educators and role models. Gun violence prevention measures for our schools should focus on educating kids about the dangers of firearms, and reminding gun-owning parents to safely own and secure firearms and ammunition, rather than on arming teachers. A study of 37 school shootings in 26 states found that in nearly two-thirds of the incidents, the attacker got the gun from his or her own home or…

Much of the authority over whether to allow guns in schools rests at the state and local levels. In Ohio, school boards are allowed to arm school personnel but are not required to notify the public that they have done so. In some states, teachers and other employees can carry a gun without anyone’s knowledge, including that of school authorities, so long as they hold a valid concealed-carry permit. No one knows how many schools in the United States have armed teachers or staff members. It was a free three day gun class in Rittman k-12 public school employees offers by the Buckeye Firearms.…

All the mass shootings have happened in places where the law made it a gun free zone making people not able to carry a concealed weapon even on duty guard or police officer. I know the law is to take gun out of children hands and put them in to professional hands but with this law there is no way that a school guard or teacher can protect themselves and their student with this I makes the teachers put their lives in danger of protecting their students with their bodies so that the students don’t get shot. The last school shooting that happened in Parkland, Florida. Was a horrible thing to happen but if they would have maybe concerned to allow certain teacher that are trained with gun can get training with gun to able to stop this situation from happen. The shooter was free to do anything he wanted because he knew that he didn’t need to worry about some defending themselves with gun.…

Many people fear that concealed firearms will increase the number of school shootings. However, this could not be further from the truth. From 1998 to 2015, 92.6 percent of mass school shootings were in gun-free zones (Crime Prevention Research Center). Gun-free campuses only encourage crime and decrease the ability for citizens to defend themselves, as well as others. All in all, one needs to examine the facts and evidence before coming to a conclusion, especially one concerning education.…

Over the past few years there has been an escalation in the use for guns. One reason for why this might be happening is because the guns are being used for mass school shootings, such as: the Sandy Hook shooting, the Parkland shooting, and many others that people don't even know about. This problem has now caused a controversy over whether teachers should carry guns while working in school or not. Many people believe that the only way to defend children during these shootings is if the staff carry guns. Although this idea seems to have many great advantages against shooters, it also opens room for more issues involving the children and the teachers.…
