Invention is creating something new, while diffusion is borrowing or copying something invented by someone else. Diffusion is common since each different culture had different cultures and inventions that were shared with other cultures. Diamond’s work was to show the difference between people around the world is not attributed their race, rather to their geography, climate, titled axis and resources. With geography and the horizontal axis, Europe and Asia were able to domesticate faster. Even though Diamond mentions that with the horizontal axis, Europeans domesticated, which led to urbanization and population growth, which later led to completion, and then invention. He fails to cover culture in his text. Not all cultures were the same and not every culture was working on advancing and creating new technologies. Diffusion was not uniform throughout the various cultures. Cultural diversity allowed the sharing of creations from many cultures. This diversity throughout the cultures gave advantages, and the success of the Spanish in Cajamarca was not due to European inventions, rather due to diffusion of culture and practices. Culture was the advantage rather than geography that was covered by Diamond.

I understand Diamond not mentioning culture, maybe to show he is not favoring or calling one culture superior rather than another.
