It’s an important part of people 's lives, and they couldn’t do it if there family didn’t own guns. Even though hunting is what some people use them for, guns are used for many other things. Is owning them really necessary, though? This is a topic that has been debated on for a long time. Should or should there not be more gun control? Everyone has a different opinion on this matter. Each country in the world has their own laws and restrictions on gun control. People who are under domestic violence restraining orders cannot purchase or own a gun by the federal law (Keeping Guns out of Hands of Abusers, page 828). Also, before anyone can buy a gun they must have a background check (Ridder). With both these things anyone such as criminals, domestic abusers, and mentally ill people will not be able to get ahold of guns legally. Ronnie D. Lankford Jr. states that “The sixteen year old boy involved in the Columbine murder loved playing violent video games”. If violent video games are a reason why people think it’s okay to use guns to commit crimes, then get rid of them. Video games aren 't necessary for people, much less violent video games. Assault rifles are the main type of guns that people want to ban. According to the NRA, assault rifles “have never been used in more than a small percentage of firearm-related violent crime” (Ridder). A study shows that in 2010 90.3 percent of gun related crimes were committed with handguns. Also, ninety percent of gun-related homicides used handguns (Harris). With this being said, if a gun is going to be banned, ban handguns. They are used the most in crimes and are not needed for anything.
