Guns Are More Dangerous Than Public Shootings

Each and everyday, 306 are issued in gun violence. Every year, in the United States average of more than 100,000 people are shot. We need more gun control because there’s not enough background check, people that are ill take their own lives, guns are more dangerous than before. People that are taking their own lives. People committing suicide with guns happen more often than public shootings. “19,392 people commit suicide with guns, compared with 11,078 who were killed by others.” Said Matthew Miller, associate director of the HICRC at Harvard School of Public Health. Guns are designed for defense and tactics to counter them. Therefore, if you are feeling endangered, you can use any gun to defend yourself. Back in World War II, people used guns in which you had to refill the powder. Now, you use bullets that can shoot up to 25 bullets in 5 seconds. For example, you are at home and you hear odd noises in the other room. A glass shatters. You run for your shotgun, that you would typically use for hunting. You shoot at the first moving thing you see. It was a man trying to break into your house. Although he was trying to steal, the better thing you could have done was call the police. That man would still be alive, but he got shot in the head. We, as a nation, must stop using weapons that can kill in the blink of an eye. However, it is apart of the constitution to own a gun. “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Taking away someone's life is not right! The Founding Fathers, while writing the constitution, did not think of the violence this would cause in the future. We must put an end to this
