For more than a decade, mass shootings have been an issue that America hates to speak about. It brings up issues surrounding gun control and deaths of our fellow citizens. There have been shootings at schools, grade school to college, movie theaters, military bases and so many more places. The constitution states that Americans can hold a weapon, without the government taking it away. But it is a human right to feel safe, which many people do not feel. The issue is really what right is more important.
Many people are saying that it is too easy to obtain a gun. That guns are causing many deaths in public places and the inner cities. Accourding to NBC news, “Eighty-two percent of weapons involved in mass shootings over the last three decades have been bought legally,” (Chuck, 2015). This is a point that has been mentioned by many citizens and politicians. People question why it is so easy to obtain a gun. They also question if honoring the Second Amendment is worth the deaths of many American people, and if eliminating guns from our society will keep us safer.
