Even if there are more laws and regulations with guns there will always be a way for them to get into the wrong hands. Criminals will always find a way to get guns and to use them as a weapon. In the journal article Self-Defense and Gun Regulation for All; a majority of shooting cases were in acts of self-defense. I believe as U.S. citizens we should have the right to defend ourselves. I also believe that this should be the only reason for citizens to own guns. I personally would want to own a gun in case there’s an intruder in the house. Carrying a gun allows individuals, especially women to feel safer when traveling alone. A major topic today is that teachers in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools should be allowed to keep a gun in a classroom in case of an intruder. There have been many school shootings and if teachers had a gun this would allow them to protect their students and possibly save lives. I do not think that teachers should be forced to keep guns on them, but it should be an option. If there were less strict regulations teachers would have this option, but personally as an education major I would feel a lot of pressure and responsibility if I kept a gun in the classroom. I do not think that all that pressure should be laid on teachers. A con of having regulations is that it gives the government more power rather than the citizens because government officials and police would be allowed to carry weapons, but the people would not. Previously I stated I believe that there should be medical background checks, but according to ProCon.org they believe this is an invasion of privacy.
