Gun Laws Should Not Be Legal Essay

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia on April 16, 2007, Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012, and lastly the movie theater in Auro, Colorado on July 20, 2012. If you have not figured it out already, you may be wondering what those places have in common. The three places listed above are all famous locations where mass shootings have occurred in the United States within the past eight years. Since all of these major shootings, everyone is asking the same question: Should more gun laws be added to the Constitution? I believe that the answer is no. In fact, my opinion is the more gun laws we added would not stop people who are determined for whatever reason to go on a killing spree. I think more gun laws or gun restrictions should not be added to the Constitution because number one guns are used during self defense and hunting; two, gun restrictions would not stop the killing of innocent people; and three, the right to own guns is a constitutional amendment. The need for more gun laws is unnecessary; although many people would oppose and say it is extremely needed in the United States. Many people believe that with more effective gun laws they would be safer. In the article "The Simple Truth About Gun Control" by Adam Gopnik, he explains that a majority of children would have been saved with effective gun laws. Gopnik also interprets that making guns harder to get would make the crime harder to commit, and it would become much rarer.…
