It is often said that there is a problem in this nation when it comes to gun violence. On one hand, we have people who believe gun violence can dissipate if there are stronger gun laws are implemented with the purpose to limit, if not completely eliminate, gun use. Author Lee Fang stated in The Nation news source article, The NRA 's Real Mission, that "the US has 5% of the world 's population, but accounts for half of all firearms worldwide and 80% of the gun deaths in the 23 richest countries." Fang is corroborating support for the pro-gun control side using interesting, persuasive statistics that demonstrate the amount of gun ownership and usage in one country alone; ours. In addition, Fang rants on that to truly find a solution to decrease statistics, the United States government must stop reaching out to the families of gun violence victims and instead take action. During the America: The National Catholic Review magazine 's article, The Strength to Care, written by the editors, reported that "for each one percent increase in household gun ownership, the firearm homicide rate increased by 0.9 percent." In other words, to have more guns out in the hands of civilians, the more deaths by gun America will suffer.
