THE LASTING TREND OF THE 21ST CENTURY
What is the most debated topic of today? Is it abortion, gay rights, gender discrimination, race, or is it guns? After recent research I have concluded it has been guns. Our media is saturated with guns; from intense action movies to even our news covering guns, it 's virtually impossible to escape this “gun frenzy” that America has gone into. In the past years gun related homicides in the United States have almost tripled, and every month there is at least 3 mass shootings that occur. Yet as a Nation, we have not came together to find a solution to end the gun violence, instead we have divided further and further away because of it. So the question remains: how did America get to this point and how do we end the bloodshed?

Some say it 's strictly states that only the military are allowed arms because of war. While others say that all Americans are open to bear arms just in case if they are under attack. However people have to realize that this was written in 1700’s; America at the time just got out of the revolutionary war and were very cautious of Britain coming back around fighting them to take over the colonies. As time progressed the last fight on American soil was the Civil war, and that was in 1865. Since then, there hasn’t been any type of full fledged war that has happened on our land, so what if there is no turmoil going on? Should we still be allowed to keep arms in our own homes? That is the true question that everyone struggles to answer. Guns may keep us safe just in case anything ever happens but they have caused so much devastation in this generation that something has to
