Policing Guns and Youth Violence by Jeffrey Fagan is about the different strategies that have been adopted and created by the law enforcement agencies, that are found throughout the United States, as a way to get a hold of and hopefully reduce the epidemic of youth gun violence in the 1980s and 1900s. The main point of this article was to figure out if any of the tactics the law enforcement agencies created and used actually worked to reduce gun violence in the youth culture. Throughout the article, a total of eight case studies were presented to show eight different cities’ efforts to police the gun crime happening within their city. The three different methods that were implemented by the law enforcements in the eight different cities include: the reciprocal control, the punitive legal control, and the “soft” legal control. Gun violence is starting to become such a common thing that we hear about it on a daily basis. Social media is crawling with the endless stories and videos of gun violence involving civilians, police officers, police officers shooting innocent bystanders, civilians shooting innocent bystanders, the list is endless. The most recent massacre was the Orlando nightclub shooting back in June. One man alone killed 49 people and injured 53 people. Sadly, shootings like this have been a common recurrence. Other recent massacres include Bataclan massacre in Paris in November of 2015, The Charleston church shooting in June of 2015, The Washington Navy Yard shooting in September of 2013, and The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in December of 2012. People have to realize that this should not happen as often as it does. We have to figure out how to stop gun
