Early in October there was a shooting at a community college in Oregon. Nine were killed many were injured, either physically, emotionally, or both. This is only one of many school shootings that have happened this year alone. On November third there was a stabbing at University of California Merced where four were injured. After the school shooting in Oregon the country was in mourning and many outraged at the possibility that something like this had happened, again. People called for tighter gun control, claiming that their accessibility to firearms was the reason so many have been hurt in shootings nationwide. In Merced, the suspect was not carrying a gun. For example, as of recently some of these have been, marriage equality, defunding Planned Parenthood, euthanasia, the list goes on. A recurring and controversial topic that is being discussed, especially since one of the most recent school shootings is gun control. The topic of gun control is not something new. The Bible speaks of things such as self defense and the use of weapons. Some examples of these are Genesis chapter four, which contains the telling of the first murder committed. Exodus 22:2-3 says “If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed. He should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.” This implies that a threat to one 's life is to be met with lethal force and that guilt should not be carried for attempting to save a life. The Bible also shows strong favor to creation; a key purpose to mankind is to protect it. One way of doing so is using guns to protect yourself and those around you from others attempting to harm you. We are also to be keepers of the creatures on the earth. An example of this would be, due to deforestation habitats are being destroyed causing an imbalance within the animal kingdom. The current gun laws create a system similar to population control. Without that, certain species would run rampant, such as
