Guns are very powerful weapons, which can cause extreme damage such as, death. Even though, many individuals have gun from safety purpose, but when the same safety tools lands up in the wrong hand, it causes mass destruction in our society, something we have been viewing a lot for the past few years. Over the years, guns control and policies have been taking a lot of highlight in the media and have been the top debatable issues in the United States, especially with all the current events and issues going on in our country today.
According to the Second Amendment, which is found in the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It means that states have rights to train soldiers to protect itself and individuals have rights to …show more content…
Each year there are about 4.5 million firearms, including almost two million handguns, are sold in the United States and about two million second hand firearms are sold each year. Interestingly, there has been a decline in American households with a gun from fifty-four percent 1977 to thirty-three percent in 2009. But, the number of guns per owner has increased from 4.1 in 1994 to 6.9 in 2004. The website goes on explain the statics on the death rate caused by firearms. The website states that there more than thirty thousand individuals killed by firearms each year in the United States, and more than thirty people are shot everyday. Half of them are aged between eighteen and thirty-five years old, and one-third of them are under the age of twenty.
