Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, San Bernardino, Columbine, Aurora. What if these events could have been stopped by someone through the means of legally having a concealed firearm? There is no explanation needed to why 2015 was a record year for background checks to own a gun in the United States. As a result, President Barack Obama along with several other politicians have called for a series of stricter gun control across the country and plans to take executive action to finalize new gun control laws. Many Americans are opposed to this as they feel their safety could be compromised if they do not have their own personal protection. Regardless of the form of gun control, it takes away our right to own guns; the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

This brings us to an example of when a person who legally had a concealed firearm was able to prevent an attempted mass shooting in Chicago, Illinois. On April 17th, 2015, an Uber driver was on his way to pick up his next customer. While waiting a stoplight, a man on the crosswalk had begun to shoot randomly at people walking across. At this time, the Uber driver who had a concealed carry permit had got out of his car and shot the man several times, saving a countless number of lives and an attempted mass shooting according to the police chief of the City of Chicago. Good samaritans like the Uber driver makes it justifiable to allow citizens to have the right to bear firearms and use it for self defense, contrary to how the government wants to tighten control over firearms even
