Texas Law states that “a person can also shoot someone they if they reasonably believe deadly force is necessary to prevent someone else from trying to kill or seriously injure them, or there is the threat of certain crimes such as sexual assault or aggravated kidnapping” (Schwaller, 2015) This was a law set to protect what one considers valuable, whether it be his or her own families or even just to protect oneself from harms way. In 2007 there was a man who saw his neighbors’ house being broken into and saw the assailants fleeing the home. The man then proceeded to call 911 to inform them he intended to shoot the burglars should they not stop fleeing. He shot both assailants and a year later he was acquitted.…

Times have changed in what is now called modern America, and the constitutional interpretation of the Second Amendment that was drafted in 1789, has always been a prickly subject, especially with the shockingly high incidents of gun-involved transgressions. Stricter gun control laws and licensing will not save lives; Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns (Barrett). The plea for tougher gun control laws continuously moves to the forefront when tragedy strikes, for example, Susan Milligan, a political and foreign affairs writer, reminds her readers of an instance when a twelve year old boy in New Mexico, took a shotgun to school in a musical instrument case and shot two of his classmates. He came from a family of hunters, not…

Additionally, Dylann Roof killed nine people in his bible study group with a legally bought glock pistol. He passed a background check even though he had a misdemeanor for possessing suboxone, a prescription drug. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of similar cases to these four mass shootings. One argument that is against gun reform is, “People kill people not guns”. This is a true statement a gun can not kill someone unless there is a shooter behind it.…

A Proposal for Handguns Should Be Controlled In Arizona Problem The problem is Arizona allows people who are over 21 years old to buy and use handguns, which makes many people believe they are always under a dangerous environment of gun violence, especially children, women, and older people. From the statistics of gun violence in America, there are many results of surveys that show how serious gun violence in Arizona is, like how the rate of Arizona’s gun-death ratio is 40 percent higher than the U.S. average. The Law Center to prevent Gun Violence gave Arizona an “F,” ranking it 49th out if 50 states, even Arizona had the eighth-highest rate of women killed by men and so on (Center for American Progress, pp. 1).…

We, as citizens of the United States, have the right to bare arms - given to us in the second Amendment of the United States Constitution. This country has a rich history regarding guns. People have used them and continue to use them for hunting, sports or recreation, and protection. However, when a mass murder or a domestic terror attack occurs, the right to bare arms is put under discretion as people cause an uproar over the violent acts. Creating more gun control laws would not stop the crimes related to guns, but rather, ownership and people being educated does, as criminals would still find a way to have access to a gun and commit a crime.…

Confiscation Of The Gun Legislation In this country we are at the point of Gun control legislation, that the government is trying to save lives, but also putting the lives of citizens at risk by making it even more ridiculous on obtaining a gun legally, and in turn making the law abiding citizen turn down the route that the criminal would to obtain their guns. Sadly, our government is tirelessly still trying to construct the process and creating it more difficult and to take away that much more of safety to the legal gun toting American has by being even tougher on gun control legislation, instead of focusing on reducing the amount of guns through illegal carrying. Many options give grounds for the argument of Gun control.…

The overall purpose of the gun control policy is to reduce the number of guns getting into the hands of people who are not legally licensed. Depending on the state, it also may or may not be required that you do a background check or have a license for gun purchases. For example, in the New York State, background check and having a licensed for gun purchases is required. However, in a state like Florida, background checks or having a license for gun purchases is not required. Despite this idea of background checks for gun purchases, there is also this idea of high-capacity magazine ban that prohibits people from selling and owning guns with high capacity as they are able to kill people rapidly because they do not need to be reloaded as fast.…

Gun Control is Not the Solution Increased Gun Control in the United States is absurd, useless, and unnecessary. In order to increase safety all throughout the United States time and effort must not be spent towards limiting gun owners of their rights. The tragic rash of school, religious, and workplace shootings has turned up the heat on the public conversation about guns. In nearly all of these cases gun laws would not have stopped the shooters from obtaining a firearm.…
