In Alabama, many of the laws are lenient who comes to who can sell guns and who can buy guns. The state also lacks control over weapons such as rifles and shotguns because owners do not have to be licensed to carry them(NRA). The owners of the firearms do not have to register the weapons, either (NRA). These gaps in the legislation caused Alabama to receive an F on the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence Annual Scorecard in 2014(LCSC). Alabama was also ranked 5th in the country of gun related deaths and 37th in the gun laws
