Gun Control

Students want to go to school and feel safe, and not be afraid of another student having a weapon and causing harm to them. Students affected by school shootings want greater gun control to protect them from people acurying guns and stop school shootings. Would great gun control be a good idea?
To begin with great gun control is a good idea because it would reduce deaths from school shootings or other type of gun violence. For instance more gun control laws letting only 24 year olds and older get to buy guns would reduce the chance of someone younger acquiring a gun and a harming someone. It would mean a depressed teen or someone that just graduated from high school and has a problem with someone in the school

On March 10, 1992, Alfonso Lopez Jr. brought a .38-caliber handgun and five bullets to Edison High School in San Antonio, TX. He was arrested under Texas law but the next day, state charges were dropped after he was charged by a federal grand jury for violating the Gun- Free School Zones Act of 1990. He was convicted and sentenced to 6 months in prison and 2 years of supervision. Lopez’s lawyer, John R. Carter, a federal public defender, argued that the Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) is unconstitutional as it did not meet the requirement of the Commerce Clause. The Commerce Clause allows congress to make laws if interstate commerce is affected.…

The assassination attempt in 1982 of President Ronald Reagan brought about The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act in 1993. The Brady Act provided for a 5 day waiting period when purchasing a handgun. “The implementation of Brady has raised some constitutional challenges as of this writing, several state and local officials(25) initiated lawsuits challenging Brady, contending that the act violates the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which reserves to the states powers not delegated to the federal government.” (DeFrancis and…

Murica doesn’t need Gun control Gun Control is a very hot topic these days. Some people think that having more gun laws in America would lessen the number of murders in America, however I think that having more strict gun control laws would do nothing to stop criminals from getting guns or killing people. Criminals will always find a way to get weapons. To prove this, handguns in the UK have been banned since 1998 and the murders have actually rose in numbers. For this reason I think gun control laws would not stop criminals from getting guns…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

The concrete permanence of guns when in the wrong hands is something that should not be taken lightly; nor should be a situation that involves children, being around firearms. Children are the foundation of our future society, to ensure that every child gets quality education is extremely high on the list of importance in education, a child’s safety and well being comes far before any academic achievement. Ensuring that the learning place is a safe haven for cognitive progression and development is essential to the learning process. To allow guns into this safe haven for progression within young children is an absolutely absurd concept to even being to attempt to wrap my head around. Unfortunately in Arizona private schools they are able to have guns on campus with proper regulations in place.…
