A major issue in the world and even locally here in America is gun control. This topic has been argued for years and has convincing arguments both for, and against gun control. Pro-gun control arguments often include personal elements in their arguments. On the other side, anti-gun control arguments usually turn to the “Intimidation of criminals” side of the argument. Both sides often use statistics that conflict each other. I am on the side of anti-gun control, which is why I plan on arguing why gun control should be less restricting. Concealed carry permits can lower crime rates. Placing concealed guns in the hands of honest citizens would intimidate criminals. When they don’t know who is armed and who isn’t, felons tend to be discouraged.

Gun control is trying to pass “control,” and ban guns altogether. This goes against America’s right to bear arms quite plainly. Without their right to bear arms, citizens cannot defend themselves from criminals or the government(If need be). The right to bear arms has always been important to a free country. Without this right, nothing would ensure its staying free. Gun control can harm family culture and traditions. Guns can be an important part of an individual's life. Parents teaching their children to shoot a gun gives them a respect for guns and makes them more responsible. Hunting is important in some family’s tradition, if you have watched Duck Dynasty, this is a well known example. Some people have to hunt for food, marketing or trade. Mountain men who prefer the simple life don’t head to stores for food, they take their gun, go hunting and cook their kill. People siding with gun control argue that gun control lowers murder rates in other countries. While these countries may have gun control laws, the murder rates are not related to the gun control. Colombia has gun control laws, yet it have the highest murder rates in the world. While it is true that China has very low murder rates and strict gun laws, that is more due to the fear of severe punishment. Some countries with less gun control actually have lower murder rates due to armed
