The Second Amendment states, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Madison). But when does self-defense cross the line to murder? "In 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings.. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour" (Statistics). In order to properly own and operate a gun a person needs to have common sense, be responsible, and understand the safety precautions needed. The only way to learn about how to safely operate a gun is to take a gun safety course. It should be a requirement, not a choice. On July first Governor Brownback signed a bill allowing concealed carry without a permit. "Kansas joins Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming in having statewide concealed carry without a permit"(Jordan) . Brownback says he encourages Kansans who want to conceal and carry to take a gun safety course, but he has not made it a requirement. Brownback should have made the safety courses mandatory because there are people who have never touched a gun before and they decide to conceal and carry.. Training is still required for people who want to take their gun out of state so it should be required no matter what.There are certain people who think they already know how to operate a gun because they watched a video on YouTube about how a gun works and should be operated, or…
