The National Council for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse advertisement on YouTube challenges the viewer, in the beginning to feel a mix of positive emotions towards firearms, talking about the safe and correct way he teaches his children gun safety. Towards the end shifting negatively, making the viewer feel there is no safe even if the firearms are locked inside. Creating negative emotions, regarding owning or using a firearm. Quickly, transferring the same feelings they just formulated in the viewer, to the abuse of prescription medications. What looks to be a gun control advertisement is used by the NCADA to redirect the viewers’ negative feelings on gun control, to the destructive effect abusing prescription medication causes. Following with the statistic “Teenagers are more likely to die from overdose than gunfire,” which the NCADA provides on screen towards the end of the advertisement. The PSA by the NCADA states that more children die from prescription medication abuse than gunfire. Viewing the material from the advertisement, one should really put forth some time thinking about the seriousness of this situation. Indefinitely, it is a large factor in determining the future of the friends and family you know and love. Letting a child have access to something dangerous, something that child does not understand. Facts are facts and without being educated by another person, the child will have to learn through trial and error. Shown in the PSA, it only takes one mistake with medication abuse to end a life. Whether the fault is the father’s for not locking the medication up, or the daughter’s for thinking independently of past education on medication abuse. She’s gone now, and that is a
