Implementation of a gun buyback program always comes with goodwill and good feeling. Our contribution to the ideal of gun buyback programs is whether or not they make a difference to the number of deaths caused by handguns. Other studies have shown that such programs can only make a difference in the area of accidental deaths if at all. Polling from the population is one of the most effective ways to get a complete picture. It tells us who is participating in the program and what types of weapons are being surrendered in the program.
Most importantly it tells us what the mentality of the populace is, with respect to the buyback programs and the effectiveness of it. Changing the mental psych of the populace is sometimes an unattended effect
