Gum Lab Report Essay

After completing my tests for my experiment, I analyzed my results, created graphs, and identified trends. I recorded my data in my Science Fair Journal, which acted as an easy reference to locate my most important information. Thirteen out of fifteen of the tests were completed quicker with gum. Twelve out of fifteen of the tests’ scores stayed the same or increased with gum. Test Subject #1 completed all of the non-gum to gum tests quicker and increased or kept the same score for every set of tests. Test Subject #2 shortened the time between the non-gum and gum tests all three trials, and increased or kept the same scores two out of three times. Overall, the subtraction test with gum averaged a score of ninety-seven percent and a time of one minute and fifty-five seconds. The subtraction test without gum averaged a score of ninety-eight percent and a time of two minutes and thirty seconds. The addition test with gum averaged a score of ninety-nine percent and a time of one minute and ten seconds. Without gum, the addition test averaged a score of ninety-seven percent and a time of one minute and seventeen seconds. The multiplication test with gum averaged a score of ninety-six percent and a time of one minute and three seconds. Without gum resulted in an average score of ninety-two percent and a time of one minute and forty-five seconds. Some of the tests increased in time with gum, which refuted my hypothesis, most likely because of a mistake on a problem, that was noticed, went back to, and corrected. This caused extra time to be taken by backtracking to fix the problem, and then going on with completing the test. By looking at the average times and scores for the different non-gum and gum tests, I was able to figure out the subtraction test with gum had a quicker time, but a lower overall
