After a long afternoon of mind-bending, frustrating paperwork one could only imagine how horrible a person could feel! Although, that happens frequently there is a cheap and quick solution, gum. Gum has been around for more than hundreds of years! Ever since the ancient Greeks have been chewing wads of mastic tree resin to make their breath sweeter. It has plenty of flavors and odors that different types of people can choose from, and that may also be one reason why gum is still a popular and well-enjoyed treat until now. Gum should be encouraged in school as not only is it pleasant it is also a useful treat to increase one’s alertness and attentive and strengthens one’s focus.
In fact, a surprising matter is that gum actually contains a feature in which it helps reduce sleepiness. According to a scientific study at St.Lawrence University, students who were given gum outperformed students who weren’t during the tests. They

A scientific be at Cardiff university, in which people were tested in a quiet room and the other was noisy. They were then rated on how they were feeling as believe it or not, the volunteers who were given gum functioned much better than ones who weren't. In the text, it declares,” as expected, gum chewers were more attentive than non–chewers, with elevated heart rates and cortisol levels.” ( Lehrer, Paragraph 6) This means that the gum chewers that received a higher level of stamina, or “energy level” causing them to do a much better performance, cortisol levels also aid in creating one’s mind to be more beware of one's surroundings. As you can see, gum is truly a useful tool that fixes a person and their state.
In conclusion, gum chewing is a very beneficial act that should be supported in school grounds. Gum is one to eliminate ones weariness and be more discreet and have a refreshed active state. It is also one to embellish how one’s feeling. It’s it time that we
