Gulf Coast University Student Internship Report

Improved Essays
There are several recommendations that I would like for Florida Gulf Coast University Athletic Department to improve their internship program. First of all, I would have liked to have some more training when it comes down to hospitality duties and other responsibilities in keeping the members of the boosters club happy. Also, I would suggest that the agency offers more challenging tasks to allow interns to think more critically to be prepared for real world problem solving situations within the workforce. Lastly, I would advocate that FGCU should allow interns to try different job positions within the athletic department, so students can have a better understanding of what they really want to do as a potential future career.

Yes, I would definitely recommend this agency to future students, because working for Florida Gulf Coast University Athletic Department has allowed me to expand my horizons in figuring out what kind of available job positions within the sports industry that I would be interested in as a future career. Therefore, working in the fundraising and event development coordinator department for FGCU has given me the ability to gain vigorous networking skills with clients and other members of the FGCU boosters club called, The Eagles Club. Having this type of connection is a great opportunity for any new

One of them was attending conference meetings on a daily basis, because it was such a difficult challenge for me to set up an appointment time with my CLT (Cued Language Transliterator) due to limited availability. So there were some days that I had to miss meetings due to not having a Cued Language Transliterator on standby. Also, I did not like having to work the hospitality suite during basketball games to cater to the members of the Eagles Club, because there were some instances where I had to deal with angry clients for not fulfilling their needs and

I am interested in joining the Athletic Training program because I think that it will be an amazing learning opportunity. Last year I had the privilege of joining the Castleberry Tennis team which provided me with an insight into some of the strenuous and demanding requirements that athletes must meet daily. Through this experience I was able to come to the realization that my passion and skill concerning sports leans more towards the technical side of things rather than the hands-on experience. I believe that by becoming a student aide for the Athletic Training program, I will be able to support the athletic program in a way in which I feel I am more apt to do…

As part of my leadership course at Grand Canyon University I was assigned to volunteer/internship in an experience that would enrich my future career. I was very fortunate to work out an agreement with the Director of Security and Safety at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona and the home of the NHL Arizona Coyotes. My current career has me working at the University of Phoenix Stadium over seeing responsibilities in security and guest services. By volunteering to work at an NHL arena, I felt it would give me insight on how other professional sporting facilities operate with the belief I would gain some experience and takeaways that would become better at my current job and possibly expose me to a bigger world within the sports/entertainment industry. During my time working at the arena I kept journal entries of each of the games that I worked at and used those documents to help reflect on what knowledge I have gained and how my Grand Canyon University experience enhanced my volunteer involvement.…

Operations: I regularly communicated the status on each assignment and explained any open items that were causing delays. I also kept a running open items list that included request to the client, to ensure that no task or item went over looked or slipped through the cracks. I have made a habit of recording my time at the end of each day to ensure that I am recording it accurately and to ensure that I get my time card submitted on time each week. I also check my arms every week to check that it accurately represents what I will be doing the next week, updating for any vacation as soon as I know that I am taking it. I work with GDS on a number of tasks and am always trying to incorporate them into more tasks to help with engagement economics.…

I have not been the same person for more than a day. From the very beginning I have been molded and cast by the world around me in a constant harmony of giving and receiving experiences and lessons. To colligate all the experiences one endures through life, into one general description, such as positive or negative, would be to grossly understate the impact of every single moment and the beauty of each detail. I wish to give more to the world and my community, through appeal and beauty. At FSU I can hope to get a head start in my education in advertising to be able to ignite a passion in others through research and communications.…

At the time, I wanted to join the student-led community service organization just to improve my college applications. However, I quickly became engrossed in the organization, building my passion for serving others and eventually becoming club webmaster the following year.…

In my college career which has been around 4 years now, these first two weeks are the first of any trimester or semester that instead of being enrolled in classes, I’m enrolled in an internship. This is definitely a change from the norm but at the same time it is exciting as well. It gives me the opportunity to use or observe some of the material that I have learned so far in my classes at Johnson & Wales in a real scenario. This internship allows me as well to gain much needed additional experience in the sports and athletics industry and will give me a more holistic view of the athletic program. It will allow me to see many different roles and see from various projects what parts of athletics I like or dislike since I am overall still open for the future to a variety of roles in the sports industry…

Recently, I had a learning experience from my internship that will help me even more in my pursuit in the field of social work. The day that this event occurred it helped me be able to be the teacher rather than the student to my intern advisors. Being that Voyage house is a support program for clients, we help to provide them with the necessities of food and household items from those that have no income. Therefore, we take them to Walmart and give them a budget that they are able to work with since they only need to provide resources just for them to living off. This was on a Friday where I had to miss group because I had something to do at school that morning; therefore, I just met my intern advisor later that day at Walmart.…
