It is vital that states take ownership on their errors and re-evaluate their justice system. Although no system is perfect, it is appalling that states continue to allow such misconduct and negligence. States have a responsibility to an individual to help re-establish their life. Police who investigate the crime should also be held accountable for falsify evidence and/or coercing an individual to falsely confess. In some instances, the suspect is manipulated and deceived by investigators. After hours of interrogation it is sad that the individual will eventually give in and tell the accuser what they want to hear, “I did it.” A common restriction includes if an individual falsely confessed they could be prohibited from receiving compensation. It is unethical to lock someone up knowing that there is no sufficient evidence or coercing the individual to falsely
