The house of Gucci, better known as simply which called Gucci, is an Italian French-owned iconic fashion and leather goods label (Gucci History, n.d.). Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence in 1921 (“Gucci Official Site – Founded In Florence, Italy in 1921,” 2016). Guccio Gucci had opened a leather products company and a small luggage store in Florence (Gucci History, n.d.). As he spent numerous years by working in London’s Savoy Hotel, he absorbed the English nobility aesthetic and introduced this sensibility in Italy via exclusive leather products created and produced by master craftsmanship of Tuscan artisans (Gucci History, n.d.). Gucci re-launched to global renown via a ground breaking mix of tradition and innovation (Gucci History, n.d.). Tom Ford became Gucci creative director in 1994 and cheered the luxury brand with a sense of provocation and daring the resonated with celebrity and fashion world (Gucci History, n.d.). Moreover, the stiletto and silk cut out jersey dresses with metallic hardware details turned into instant portray of Ford’s unique vision (Gucci History, n.d.).
Domenico De Sole became CEO in 1995 and Gucci achieved highly successful transformation to a fully public company (Staff, 2011). Gucci is named ‘European Company of the year 1998’ by the European Business Press Federation due to its economic and financial performance strategic vision and management quality.
