This incorrect assumption has led to discrimination and negative stigmas (Boyle, 2013). PWS have reported that the negative perception of their speech has led to erroneous assessments within a professional setting, affected their ability to get a job, as well as hindered the advancement of their career (Hurst & Cooper, 1983; Klein & Hood, 2004; Williams, 2006; Rice & Kroll, 94 & 97; WC).
