In the frontline PBS video “growing up online,” adolescents and adults are struggling with how to deal with safe ways to use the Internet, teen privacy, cyber bullying, and misuse of technology. Social media in particular has greatly impacted the way adolescents communicate in both positive and negative ways. From personal experience as a teenager I used Myspace to find out about new bands and upcoming shows. Even though I was not too involved in using social media to talk to other people I did know of several peers who misused the internet to pick on classmates, post sexual pictures and sexually harass other students.
