Growing up in Ukraine, it never crossed my mind that one day I will be living anywhere but my own country. I still remember the day my mother told me the big news of moving to united states a month before our flight. I quickly had to wrap my mind around it, and prepare myself for a completely new life that was coming my way. I had to find out all on my own how to prepare for a new country, educate myself about the culture and finally figure out the education system in united states.

My first day was hectic, it was hard to follow directions when I understood very little english. What I struggled with was understanding the whole system of the school. In Ukraine we stay in one classroom the whole school day, here every period is in a different classroom. In my country I could leave from school whenever I felt like, we were all responsible for our own selves. We did not have concealers to lead us. In general, I am very happy for moving here. America opened up windows for me in continuing my education and much more. I am very thankful to my mom for bringing me here to have a better life. All countries have ups and downs but overall America is the best choice for a successful living, but of course i will always miss my
