Growing Up In Patrick Rothfuss's The Name Of The Future

Growing up is a major part of one’s lifetime. It is a time for learning from your mistakes, trying new things, meeting new people, and finally being free and on your own. Although growing up is important, being able to approach things like a kid again is equally important in succeeding and staying happy. One of the problems with the world is the fact that many people grow up too fast and are not able to be a kid for as long as they should be. As Patrick Rothfuss said in his novel, The Name of the Wind, “When we are children we seldom think of the future. This innocence leads us free to enjoy ourselves as few adults can. The day we fret about the future is the day we leave our childhood behind”(2007). In order to solve this problem of growing up too fast, adults should be able to participate in certain activities as well as take time to just be a kid again.
Coloring with Crayola crayons is an activity that most kids love to do at some point in their childhood. Recently, this activity has skyrocketed, not in regards to the children industry, but for the adult side of the market. The stress that comes with being an adult can be overwhelming and impossible to handle. The new trend of adult coloring is able to bring an adult a sense of calmness. The idea of setting aside time that is dedicated to playing with one’s children or playing in general should also help adults get their minds off of work and develop stronger relationships with their kids. Thinking with a child’s mind can bring success as an adult, as well. This idea of adults having time to be a kid again would positively make the world a better, and much happier
