Growing up in a traditional Mexican household, we had a lot of family members that were considered “outsiders”. The only reason that they might have been excluded was simply because they did not share the same beliefs as the rest of the family. Recollecting my middle sister was considered for a good while an “outsider”. The reason being because she went outside the norm of the traditional woman role. At a very young age, she decided that she was not going to be reliant on a man. She dropped out of school then started to work. She became independent, and my parents dislike it a lot they had other plans for her to marry young, and stay home to raise her family while her husband worked. My sister was disowned from the family, she was not invited
