Growing Up. I was born and raised on a small island in the Caribbean which is known for its lush landscape, pleasant tropical weather, beautiful people, fastest man in the world, and also language. I was born in Jamaica, the land of wood and water. In my early years, I lived in the parish of Manchester with my grandparents and two cousins. We lived in a family house. My grandmother moved to the U.S then my mother moved in to live with us. Although I lived with my grandparents, my parents were actively involved in my life and I would see my mother whenever she took me and my cousin to school every morning and picked us up. The class was divided by these cliques whenever it was a normal day but there were days we would all get together and enjoy ourselves. We were in a classroom that was considered the ‘dungeon’ of the school because it was far away from the main area of the school and we had to go down a few stairs to get to the classroom. Because we were not close to the main offices, we would often be rowdy. At my high school there were certain rules that would result in a suspension from school such as using explicit language, holding a phone while in our uniform, bringing alcohol on the school campus, and also bringing electronics on the school campus. Being in the ‘dungeon’ we figured we had a lot of opportunities to break these rules and others. These actions were against all our morals. One day a classmate decided to indulge in alcohol and brought enough for the major cliques in the class. At lunch, we all got our food and arranged the desk in the same style as “The Last Supper”. Majority of the class had their electronics and while we ate and drank, we listened to music and
