This played a big key role because parents had immigrated to the United States to better educate their children so that they could succeed in life. The Asian American families as well as the minority family’s living in America, constantly try to hold onto the dream or aspirations that there children can become something that they were not meant to become. They are asked to become Americanized and to forget and basically throw away they’re entire family history and heritage instead of staying true to themselves. Racial Identity in the Asian American community is one that isn’t well majoritized, they live in a world where white supremacy is the majority and overpowers them. However this also leads to the individual experiencing immersion which is when that person becomes so deeply involved in discovering his/her heritage in order to save the heritage and family history for future generations. Asians are also shut out and kept in the dark with things involving equity and diversity and therefore have no other choice but t accept the fact that modern day American looks at them as minorities and thinks they do not
