A few main points were related to the article. The first main point is in regards to the growing elderly population. This population of individuals is the fastest growing population in the world(Site). According to, (Site) between 1990-2025 67% of the elderly will be in the developed nations and 205% in developing nations(site). This is major news because it means an increase in resources will be needed. This includes but is not limited to, programs, personnel, housing, and long-term care. Secondly, the article points out that there are professional consequences to working in the gerontology field worldwide. Many elderly people are either immigrants or refugees in the US, therefore, social workers would need special skills to assist
