Groupon Situation Analysis

Decent Essays
Exactly. I have sneeky feeling the metrics would suggest a lack in customer retintion. In all honesty, the personal complaints I have heard myself from buisnesses regarding Groupon mostly pertain to calibur of the new customers. We used a Groupon (Yes, I'm cheap, we tried Groupn a lot), for a hotair balloon ride in wine country. After our wonderful ride, we tipped the the guide. The guide mentioned we were the first "Grouponers" to ever tip him, despite a notice printed on the vouchers notifing customers gratuity was not included (which implies a gratuity should be given). We had a similar experience on a Groupon harbor cruise, except there the staff thanked us for not getting "wasted". I can only imagine how waitresses must feel.

This is called Tipping Pool, where “All employees subject to the pool have to chip in a portion of their tips, which are then divided among a group of employees.”…

    1. The key decisions Andrew Mason has made during Groupon’s brief history was not excepting Google’s buyout offer and by filing paperwork with the SEC for an IPO of stock to raise $750 million. (Nelson, 2013, Page 390-391) 2. I believe that not excepting Google’s offer was a programmed decision because there was a decision made not sell. The filing of paperwork with the SEC for a public offering of stock to raise $750 million was a nonprogrammed decision because they had to figure out a way to raise money.…

These days, most people choose to go out to eat at a restaurant instead of cooking a meal at home. It is the same routine everywhere – a server greets you, takes your order and serves the food to you and when you are all done eating, you tip your server based on the service they provided. But have you ever wondered do these servers actually enjoy their job? It is pretty much required for them to pretend like it is the best job in the world even if they think otherwise. Their positive attitudes is one of the ways they make money.…

I am a server and I totally get why most waiters/waitress get mad when they don’t get tipped. Some people just don’t get the point of tipping their server. Some days are slow, and some days are extremely busy as a waiter or waitress. It is more than just taking someone’s order and bringing it to them. It never seems to fail that there will be that one group of people that doesn’t leave a tip no matter how hard the waitress works.…

As someone who makes his living on mostly tips it might sound obvious that I don’t want the tipping system banned, but there are a lot of people out there that think it should be. People argue that tipping is unreliable and unpredictable and that an hourly fixed rate would be better for servers. The truth is that tipping is not as unpredictable as people think and is actually much better for servers than a fixed hourly rate As a delivery driver, I have noticed a pretty big difference between the quality of my service and how much people tip. If I get there early people normally give me a better tip, and if I’m really late, I’ll get a smaller tip or no tip at all. The same thing happens with waiters and waitresses in restaurants, better service…

Tipping: not only about money but more about economic institution It is hardly to explain why the behavior of tipping that is a billions dollar social phenomenon becomes a tradition and does not die. There is always a debate about whether the tradition of tipping should be terminated, because such tradition becomes increasingly mandatory and makes some customers uncomfortable. Customer satisfaction “A statistic says people will share a positive experience with an average of five people and will share a bad experience with an average of nine people.” Many of us have told our friends and love ones about places to try and why to try them and told even more people places to avoid because we do not want them to experience what we have. The employee and customer interaction determines if a customer will return and if they return if they are going to bring more people or spend more money. This is why customer service is very important. There are several reasons why I support good customer services.…
