Having to teach young minds will definitely not be easy. This job will be filled with challenges and frustrations. But I believe that any child is cable of learning anything, if they are guided down the right path. As a teacher I understand that I will need to be aware of how each students learns, behaves, and develops I order to be able to relate to my students. My goal as a teacher is to challenge my students and watch them grow to their fullest potential. Therefore, I believe that group work is the key to having successful students and is something of value, especially with younger students. Group work helps students to communicate with each other and help each other, not only that, but also it changes the atmosphere in the classroom as

On the morning of September 11th 2001 the United States was struck with the biggest terrorist strike in the history of the nation. Ultimately this attack changed the way we look at and fight terrorism. The 9/11 attacks were carefully plotted out, using very sophisticated measures to complete the objective. Since this attack, many have pondered how they received the training it takes to pull off an attack of this magnitude. When you are able to kill over 3000 people through a series of sophisticated planned strikes, one begins to question the background of these men.…

In high school, we were constantly being told that we could not work in groups because we would get too loud. In university group work was encouraged so that our professors wouldn't have to do as much marking. During my observations at my CSL there was a lot of group work. Comparing when the students were working on group work to their individual work, the results were polar opposites. The tasks for students was to write down what they knew about 5 sided figures.…

More so, students are more motivated to learn in groups rather than by themselves (Frykedal & Chiriac, 2014). This leads into self-efficacy concepts, as while self-efficacy is defined by the concept of student confidence vs. ability, self-efficacy is typically fueled by the students examining if the content is even possible and reacting accordingly (Schunk, 2012). Working together allows for students to deal with unexpected problems that may spring up, either a lack of understanding or confusion regarding techniques, or even potential bugs in the game with groups as work can be delegated and tested by team mates. It also helps sharpen goal-oriented mindsets by placing emphasis over achieving results with the techniques over individual need to…

Introduction. Concepts and studies concerning groupthink are important to know, analyze and meditate at this level. Most of us are part of a group, it can be the family, the place we work at, any kind of association, church, neighborhood, schoolhouse, university, or a social club. As part of that group, whether we are an active o passive member of it, a leader or a follower; the time will come when we have to make a decision for the sake of the group we belong to. Regardless of the matter the group may be dealing with, is essential to have in mind why we’re making that kind of decision and measure the consequences.…

Every person has different strategies when it comes to learning and working either alone or collaboratively within a group. I consider myself a doer. I take pride in diving straight into the workload and scratching something off of my to-do list. Awareness of what is happening, who is getting what done, and the accuracy of all materials being produced within a group is extremely important to me. Because of how motivated I am in a group to complete the task at hand, I am quick to give my ideas and visions for the final product which makes me the usual group leader.…

It was the first time the emphasis was placed on the group, not in the individual abilities and skills. Adapting to others personalities and putting differences aside to function as a whole was the key to success. I learned my individual strengths, became confident in them, and used them to learn how to lead. But, I remained humble with my weaknesses and deferred them. Now, group work does take place in other classes, but typically group work in other subject is much smaller and is self-chosen.…

As a collaborator, my strengths were that I made sure that everything got done on time and that it was done right. My weaknesses were that I didn’t really talk to my group as much as I should have and I kind of didn’t put responsibility on anyone but myself. Group work requires talking to others, otherwise you’ll just pull all of the weight and the other group members will get a free ride. Honestly, I feel comfortable controlling the whole process of group work and have people just follow what I say so I know that things are getting done right. This is probably not good, but I don’t feel like I can trust groups because a lot of the time people don’t do what they’re supposed to.…

One thing that is very important to having a successful group is having roles. Beyond just having roles, it is critical that the members completely know their roles and stay within their role. Another point in succeeding in group work is passion. You need to be passionate about whatever your job may be in the group, or else it will clearly show. If you are not happy about your role, and aren’t passionate, FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT.…

Collaboration is important because it allows students to socialize and learn how to work with others. Small groups are another effective teaching strategy I have learned more about this semester as well as previous ones. Small groups are a good opportunity for students to get more one on one work with the teacher on a certain skill that they need to improve on. Small groups should be flexible and made according to a certain need or Fountas and Pinnell level of a student. As stated by Hoffman in Flexible Grouping Strategies in the Multiage Classroom, the intent is that grouping for instruction is fluid and flexible.…
