As a way to categorize and analyze verbal interactions between group members, the Group Development Observation System (GDOS) was developed (Griffith & Dunham, 2015). These are broken down into eight categories. The first one is dependency statements, and this type of statement communicates that an individual is conforming to the consensus of the group and seeking direction from others (Griffith & Dunham, 2015). This statement type displays compliance. An example would be the individual who does not offer any suggestions of their own, but rather agrees with whatever somebody else is saying.…

The clinical group I attended was located at Wekiva Springs Inpatient Center in Jacksonville, and was held on November 18, 2015 at 1330. In charge of the group was Dr. Birt, a female psychologist with a PsyD. She was also a licensed professional clinical counselor. The purpose of this particular group session was focused on triggers and how to deal with them. Dr. Birt wanted to find out what triggered these patients to use and abuse alcohol and/or drugs. She then took what they said and came up with better ways for them to handle these triggers.…

This essay will detail a critical reflection of three key learning experiences that I encountered during my team observed structured professional encounter (TOSPE). Originally designed by Harden and Gleeson (1979), TOSPE allows students to work collaboratively as a multi-disciplinary team and develop a care plan specific to case studies. I will be paying particular attention upon psychosocial factors, cultural awareness, human factors and team-working of my group. Finally, I will outline the importance of effective team-working, personal critical reflection and their roles…

Before the collaborative group was established, I did a mini self-reflection where I focused on what skills would be good to make the project the best it can be. Skills that I deemed important included dedication to academics, passionate about theater, information on both the technical and performing side of the stage, creative thinking, and respective of other people’s ideas. Having a dedication to academics and passionate about theater will ensure that the members of the group would be dedicated to the project and will not get off task. Having knowledge about both the technical and acting side of theater will ensure that the group will be well versed on various aspects of theater including lighting, costuming, playwriting, and blocking. Being both a creative thinker and respective of…

Before I jump directly into reflecting on the group presentation, I would just like to wishfully thank them for their effort and of course, thank you for teaching a course that was rather interesting. I moved all the way from Kuwait to Brock and in all honesty, knew that group work would be my first and main concern. The reason behind this is that usually, I would get to pick my own friends and that makes the communication process within the group much easier but that’s not the case at Brock and other universities. Groups (just like for this class) are picked at random and with that come stakes that you must deal with such as people that are not motivated or committed enough to do work, or someone that speaks broken English. The assignment…

In comparison to the group work done for paper one, I do believe this was an improvement, mostly because we wrote the paper as we worked through the problem. This not only helped with preventing the procrastination of typing the paper at the last minute, but gave us time to gain an understanding of what was going in the problem by going to office hours. What I feel needs improvement is my the communication between my partner and I. partner initiative to understand the problem. There were times during the assignment that there were areas in the paper that were not understood but there was not adequate communication so that the problem could be resolved. This resulted in the last minute scurrying to correct the errors in the paper.…

According to Mullins (2013) teamwork is the ability to work with a group or team in a collaborative manner in order to achieve goals. Northouse (2016) states that LMX promotes team work by creating in and out groups that showcase the dynamics within an organisation. Breevaart et al (2015) asserts that, since there is a lot of interaction between leader and follower, an LMX leader, is able to influence the relationships between co-workers in an organisation. For example, in PepsiCo, since the in - group is closer to the leader and have a similar relationship with the leader, they are able to work cooperatively as work is much easier with someone who understands the situation. Thus, creating a more efficient environment as performance will increase…

In fact, I had taken same as this course when I was studying at King Saud University. Doubtless, the topics that I had in that course were similar to some extent to what we talked about during this semester. We were totally concentrating on the understanding of our community needs and how we bridge gaps between our museums and its audiences through reinforcing the educational role of our museums and making them more accessible for people with disabilities. Yet, today, the educational role in our museums is not as effective as it should be. Indeed, due to several factors, our museums in Saudi Arabia cannot engage their audiences in conversations about particular topics such as social justice, women rights, labor rights, racism, and so on.…
