Group Thinking and Brainstorming can be a powerful tool used for collaborative innovation when done properly. The first article is “The Rise of the New Groupthink” by author Susan Cain, she is addressing groupthink among extraverts and introverts. Cains purpose in writing this article is to speak about how most of us work in teams for managers, who unfortunately admire people skills above all. She goes on to say that collaborations are in and as for lone workers that are out. The second article is “Groupthink: The brainstorming myth” by author Jonah Lehrer, whose purpose and focus was on brainstorming and how innovated it can be. Both Groupthink and brainstorming both require thinking processes for whatever topic being worked on. Teamwork seems to be the only thing people rely on these days, individual thinkers and workers are something that is frowned upon. I do believe these authors make persuasive arguments because they are both trying to get you to agree and understand something.
